The Future of Testing and School Accountability in Texas

Texas lawmakers need to hear from you!

Texas’s school testing assessments and accountability systems are closely connected. Student tests are supposed to tell us how well students are learning, and the school accountability system is supposed to tell us how good our schools are. But one thing many of us can agree on is that these systems do not measure everything we want to know about students’ learning, success, and our public schools.

IDRA invites you to this listening session to share your thoughts on what makes a school great, and what students want and need most to succeed.

This listening session is part of a statewide campaign by Raise Your Hand Texas to speak to 10,000 Texans about what makes schools great. Participants are welcome to share thoughts at the session and via a survey. Your input will shape recommendations to make these systems better–and for Texans to measure what matters in their schools.
